ChainWheel replacement for Strida 5 ?

Hi Davistrida!

I also got my Strida LT through the Groupon deal.

They appear to have a registration page here:
http://eccyclesupply.com/eccshome/register.html

This appears to be the site of East Coast Cycle Supply selling Strida and parts:
http://www.thehubhq.com/SearchResults.asp?searching=Y&sort=13&search=strida

Its mailing address is identical to eccyclesupply at:
80 Smith St
Suite #1
Farmingdale, NY 11735

Not 100% certain, but worth a try?

Triangle Man

Oh crap! I totally forgot about areaware!! I’ve ordered soo many parts from them before they might have the chainwheel and hopefully the metal ones instead!

But recently areaware and savedbybike have been totally sold out of strida bikes all models.

I on the other hand keep a bunch of spare parts on hand for my own bike and order more when I use them. that way it’ll last for a looong time with the way i’m commuting on them daily.

I find if it was through the groupon deal they where just dumping the stock they had and got out of the strida business all together, I doubt you will get any further support from them anymore. It was sold for super cheap and being a groupon deal it was more of a buy and you’re on your own after of any problems.

http://eccyclesupply.com only started up in 2011, and http://thehubhq.com/ just started promoting Strida LT as of March 2012, so I’m betting instead that they cut a promotional deal (getting a discount from Ming) for the Groupon in order to get more exposure for Strida in the US market. After all, there’s no way to sell these bikes if nobody ever sees one. At least, I’m hoping that’s the case.

To Davistrida:
Any response from eccyclesupply.com?

This is interesting news Triangle man. So hopefully they would have more upgrade parts in the future for the US side of things without having order from Hong kong all the time for the good stuff.

I got a reply from eccyclesupply, and they offered to pick up the bike and check it out. I thought that was nice of them. My belt wheel is still warped, but not rubbing the frame anymore, not really sure why, but I can ride it, and frankly I don’t want to go a day without it. 2 bike stores have asked me to pull over and take pictures of the strida. Pretty cool. Thank you for all your replies and support

that’s really one of the main problems of riding a strida, people WILL ask you what the heck is that! Anyone shy should never ride such a thing!

Just a comment …
maybe its just the front pulley is badly attached to the crank, rather than bent ?
easy fix - just check the screw fixing to crank >>
or
Is the crank rotating without ‘wobbling’ ? … it could be a bent / bad crank
OR … the crank is simply out of alignment on the square BB axle ??
Bent BB axle ?
Loose or Badly aligned eccentric adjuster ?

All of which are bad to have on a new bike but if its easier to fix then send back might be better option. Sh*t happens it how the company fixes it and stands by its product that counts.
Heck I’ve had 3 faulty iPods ! … (but apple did the right thing and sorted them out … just took 4 months of hassle :unamused: )

I found the alloy belt wheel from “Ming Industries” (bfold.com in New York City, I believe, but ultimately the price was in the vicinity of $400!

Later I found a nice alternative here: smtbike.com.tw/en/products/? … il&aid=147. Their price (for the pulley only) was $120, plus $36 shipping. Much more reasonable.

But in the meantime I 3D printed my own (in plastic):

It’s available at shapeways.com/model/1268968/ … pider.html for $144 (plus $6 shipping, I believe). I’m using a 5-bolt crank spider rather than Strida’s standard – I think the wider bolt circle gives better support to the plastic.

if anyone need me, please let me know, thanks!
