Strida rear wheel rubbing against frame

Hi,

I’m not the most technical so please be patient with me.

My rear wheel has suddenly started rubbing against the rear fork when cycling. It does not rub when it is folded up.

This happened quite suddenly, and only after I was trying to stop my kick stand rubbing against the wheel when folded but adjusting the kick stand bolt and angle of the plate.

I can’t really get my head around how it is happening.

Hi David,
sorry for the late reply, “patience” is my 2nd name, don’t worry

Sooo, what do we have here…

There must be a cause - did you notice anything before that happening?

Folded up means no load, while cycling means full load - that seems logic to me.

This should not happen in theory, but I do know that it may happen - I could solve this issue once by cutting off a small chunk of the kickstands plastic “foot”. Maybe that would work on your bike, too (?)

Oooops?
From what I know - there is no chance to adjust that angle.
The inner curve of the plate sits directly on the outer curve of the bottom bracket housing - and that’s it.

Thanks. I’ve added some photos that might help.

I think when fully folded the ‘locking’ of the horizontal frame section against the seat post pushes the frame away from the wheel.

It is almost like it has got bent?

Well, for the kickstand you could try that (if you didn’t already):
Pull the kickstand outside, while tightening the kickstand bolt.

But for the wheel scratch there will be more investigations required, I’m afraid…do you have a bike mechanic near you who you could ask for assistance?

If you push/pull the wheel towards to/away from the tube by hand - how much play can you generate?

Very little without moving the horizontal bar from the plug in joint.

This is where the horizontal bar rests now when relaxed. Think it used to be more in line with the seat post before?

Very little must mean that the wheel bearings are OK.

Comparing with three of my bikes I must say - you are right! :astonished:
Sorry, but I do not have any explanation for that.
It is hard to believe for me that the tubes can bend - but of course, I couldn’t tell from images.

Mate, please do yourself a favour and look out for an experienced and nice bike mechanic!

The bar still seems straight. Is there anything in the join that might be pushing it in more than normal?

That’s why I was thinking maybe the belt could be dragging it in?

The rear joint is principially very simple.
The axle’s threaded part is screwed into the seat tube, the bottom tube rotates around the right cylindrical part of the axle, the rear wheel sits on the left part.

I mean it is legit to say “No” to both of your last questions.
