Hello. I’m Strida user for the las 20 years. I may be considered as a fanboy. My second model (Strida LT) is about 12 years old and last week the bar where the pedalier is attached, suddenly broke down. I was riding my normal way to work and I felt like the seat went down and the pedals took the ground. I was riding slowly and nothing happend to me.
Anyone knows if there is any way to get a new bar to replace it?
I guess that trying a welding here is useless?
I try to attach some pics. Thanks in advance!
Oh, how terrible, I am so glad you are safe.
I have heard that welding aluminium is generally difficult.
Besides, I have heard that there is no definite fatigue limit for aluminium, so wouldn’t it be better to replace the tube instead of trying to weld it?
I purchased a Strida EVO bottom tube only from a dealer in Taiwan a few years ago. If you can find a store that will sell you only the bottom tube, I think you can get it.
Thank you so much for your help. I think i will try to get a new one.
Greetings
Hello Elsinor,
welcome at Stridaforum
I’m verry sorry for you, but at least you were not hurt!
It’s a while ago that Strida.nl offered bottom tubes (with EVO KS3 drives) and I’m unsure if Friso still has them (but asked already).
(I do have some single tubes, but these are unfortunately not painted.)
I’m unsure regarding welding, as far as I know, the tube had to be heat-treated after welding, maybe you can ask a professional welder if that would make sense.
Good luck,
Chris
Thank you very much Chris!
